Midvaal Community Police Forum

Who are we and how do we operate?

The CPF (Community Police Forum) Golf Park & Ext. 6 came into being in April 2010 after our Golf Park & Ext. 6 community was fraught by criminal actions in our area and requiring an urgent and lasting solution to the problem. The decision at the time was to establish a community organisation under the auspices of the Community Police Forum movement that could enjoy the support of the South African Police Service as entrenched in the law.

The idea was to create a community governed organisation with the aim of promoting a safe environment, providing a means for residents, business owners, and community groups to communicate their concerns regarding public safety to the South African Police Service, and to work in a proactive and creative manner to address those concerns. The drastic drop in crime proved that this direction of fighting crime was the right decision.  The crime statistics monitored by both the SAPS and ourselves proved that involving the community was the most constructive idea as well as very beneficial to residents.

In short: Community Policing it is a partnership between the police and the Community to solve the ever-growing safety problems.

The CPF supports visibility as one of the key crime prevention methods available to the forum
